One of my favourite and one of the highest ski areas in Austria at 1500 to 2500 metres above sea level, the village of Hochfügen itself is nestled in a ring of snowcapped peaks enjoying the sunshine throughout the day.
The fourth largest ski resort in the Zillertal, or the Ziller valley, Hochfügen is situated up and away from the lively valley below, easily accessible from the Spieljochbahn via a mountain road leading directly to the ski car park.
With over 36 state-of-the-art lifts with heated seats in the ski resort and a variety of pistes, off piste terrain, ski touring routes, cross-country ski trails, toboggan run AND guaranteed snow, Hochfügen offers a snow sport paradise. Artificial snow makers step in when necessary to offer full snow coverage on the 90km of pistes throughout the winter season.
In addition, the Hochfügen ski resort has excellent features such ski-out and ski-in access, popular with freeriders, easily accessible powder slopes and tuition and training courses.
Hochfügen is highly recommended by off piste skiers and a popular free-ride hotspot of the Alps.
